Liberty Bay

Sunlit scriptures scribbled and scattered

by clouds, disfigured by oceans.

Creatures bound by rock and atmosphere,

whose shapes and shadows offer subtle narrative

to the empty

effortless

eternal

habits of the cosmos,

as in us they terminate:

a reflection, a personification, a religion.

Entombed, perhaps, in crumbling pyramids

of poetry or throbbing in the arteries

of art's anarchic ache.

A meaningless coincidence

given to the labors of proving

human purpose and

stupid beauty.
